RARE OFFERING:Presented for sale is a historic place card holder for James Hagerty at a meeting between President Eisenhower and Lopez Mateos in the Hotel El Mirador on Feb.19,1959, hand made by Los Castillo, Mexico,1959. Hagerty was the Press Secretary for Pres. Eisenhower. The placard reads:"CENA PRESIDENTES LOPEZ MATEOS-EISENHOWER EN EL HOTEL EL MIRADOR ACAPULCO,GRO. 2-19-59 SR.JAMES C.HAGERTY". Early sterling bolo with Mayan design on a brown leather braided thong with the fabulous cactus-design ends, Mexico, c.1942. Hand made of heavy gauge silver, the bolo(1 1/8" long by 1 1/4" wide) shows a framed Mayan figure with a recessed oxydized background highlighting the figure. The two ends are silver cactii(each 1 3/8" long). They are just incredible! Wonderful example of the William Spratling deco design scroll pin of silver and copper, Mexico, c.1945. This classic piece is beautifully hand made and signed "SPRATLING SILVER(in oval) WS(around which says) SPRATLING MADE IN MEXICO". Fabulous wide sterling collar necklace with intricate design by Far Fan, Mexico, c.1947. The intricate hand cut design is brilliantly engineered so that one piece fits perfectly into the other. Quite wide, it measures 1 3/8" and is approx. 16" around the neck. It is signed "FAR FAN HECHO EN MEXICO DF 925 bellmark#13". Excellent condition and so very beautiful. Presented is the larger of the two Fred Davis silver boxes being offered. Classic hand made silver box with onyx Mayan face made by Fred Davis, Mexican designer, c.1930. It is signed "FD" (stylized)and is in excellent condition. It measures 3 1/2" by 2" by 1 3/8" high. The onyx face is enclosed in a silver bezel and has a hinged opening at the back.
